A little about me:
I'm a computer nerd, but I didn't start out that way. As a teenager when I was first introduced to the PC I was not impressed, it really did
nothing unless you had the skills to write a program to make it do something. This was long before the World Wide Web and Email that
everyone takes for granted these days. Several years went by and the PC evolved into something I actually might enjoy. There was an
explosion of IBM clones in all the tech magazines and they looked nothing like what I had seen as a kid. I knew I had to have one, but
they were expensive and I was broke. I convinced my parents to buy me the parts and my first PC was born, it was not much to brag
about, but for those days it was a monster machine and it could run Windows 3.1. The best thing about it is that it was built by me with
some help for my friends, and that’s what got me hooked.
Sadly, back in the early days of computing there was no social network, I did join AOL, back when you had to pay by the minute and
there really was nothing else except PCBoard and a few other BBS hangouts. Little did I know AOL would grow up to be the most hated
company in the U.S.
After many years or sitting behind my PC and installing version after version of Windows, I thought it was time to broaden my horizons
and try something new. I had heard of Linux, but did not really know much about it. I bought a book on RedHat and off I went exploring.
I will not bore you with details, but from RedHat I moved to Fedora and then on to Ubuntu. I am amazed at how far Linux has come
over the years and I thank all of the developers who made it what it is today.
